I am often asked by my clients what I enjoy doing outside my job? And I am aware that this open ended and sometimes rhetorical question is often the same question they are asking themselves. And for many, it is a hard question...
For me - it is having an answer that has evolved, in much the same way as I have, roughly and through a lot of trial and error. I have learnt during my 43 rotations around the sun - that finding what brings me joy - is less about finding what I like and more about eliminating what I don't like. In much the same way as the mind. The mind has greater success of change when you reduce negative thoughts, more so, then when you increase positive ones.
And so - what's left is often where our joy resides. Our 'go to' place.
Who am I outside my practice and my work, healing and supporting others? Interestingly enough - you will still find me in that healing energy space. I find much joy in repurposing, recycling, repairing, rebuilding, renovating, upcycling, and renewing... I am guessing you can see the common thread. It is a part of my DNA to fix, repair and breath life back into people, places and things.
And so, you will find me sewing, mending, renovating my home, gardening and landscaping, and upcycling furniture among many other projects. It brings me great joy and satisfaction transforming a project that others may have discarded as broken, useless or old.
How I interact with my environment, is a direct reflection of who I am and what legacy I want to leave. To be a part of someone's journey is a privilege - as much as it is to become a part of the very fabric of a home or a piece of furniture.
And then of course - there is music, dancing and lovemaking ... but that's another post altogether!
Love and Light, Dominique
